Catholic Charities – Resource Event & Distribution of Masks

Catholic Charities is celebrating the 40th year anniversary of fighting poverty in our local community. I am Jessica Cortez and I have been blessed to work at Catholic Charities as the Regional Coordinator under Family & Community Services in our Coachella Valley. I have lived in The Coachella Valley most of my life. You may ask yourself, who are we and what do we do?  Catholic Charities provides compassionate social services that respond to the suffering and most vulnerable and those in crisis in our local community. Although, we are under the umbrella of the Diocese of San Bernardino in our two-county area we are different entities, Catholic Charities is a separate non-profit social service agency.

Catholic Charities have compassionate Case Workers that provide crisis intervention services.   Services provided are Basic Needs, Utility Assistance, Emergency Food and Diapers, Local Bus Passes, Eviction Prevention. Case Workers provide intensive advocacy and also provide information and/or referrals to address the crisis that our families are facing.

As our CEO Ken Sawa shared with us recently, “Catholic Charities is a path to Services” and I agree. Catholic Charities is a path to services and in order to create a good path for families, we need to connect volunteers, staff, and partnerships with other agencies. All these connections lead to providing services to the families in our community. Our goal is to serve the community by “Providing Help and Creating Hope”. All the connections we make branch out into different resources with our community partners and that makes us stronger.

We are very pleased to announce that Catholic Charities has recently relocated to Coachella at 52-555 Oasis Palm Ave, we are located at the old Chapel building right across from our Church office.
