If you need assistance please complete the Our Lady of Soledad Communications Request for Church Ministries / Solicitud de Comunicaciones de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad para Ministerios de la Iglesia form.

Vision

We are laity people striving to serve our community by using traditional and digital media platforms as a means to communicate during this time of Pandemic. Our vision is to inform, educate, and inspire the faithful by increasing awareness of the various ministries and programs offered by Our Lady of Soledad Parish.

Mission

With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Communications Ministry provides our parishioners’ current information and a platform to evangelize, affirm and strengthen our community of faith. It serves as an instrument by outreaching, connecting, supporting, and bringing together our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Living our Mission

Our communication ministry team is composed of Alena Callimanis, Alejandra Ortiz, Fr. Francisco Gomez, Maricela Hernandez, Rene Tinajero, Senorina Saldivar, and Vanessa Mager. The communications platforms we use at Our Lady of Soledad are Facebook, OLOS Website, OLOS YouTube Channel, Zoom and Flocknote.

Our Lady of Soledad set up a Facebook page to ensure our community of faith learned about any changes in our Mass services as well as access the links for the online services. In order to continue with Holy Masses in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and church closures, Our Lady of Soledad set up a YouTube channel to keep our community strong even while everyone had to stay home. We currently use our YouTube channel to evangelize and support our community through live streams of Holy Masses, Holy Hour, and Special services as well as in-person services since we have had limited capacity in the church.

Our Communications Ministry also works in collaboration with our Pastor, Father Francisco Gomez to ensure our community stays connected through monthly Zoom meetings in our Conversations with Fr. Francisco as well as a weekly bereavement group to support our community during this time of loss. In addition, the Communications Ministry has greatly improved and updated our OLOS website to make it a reliable and up-to-date source of information to keep the community connected, provide weekly announcements, offer a hub for Catholic and community resources, including COVID-19 updates and resources. Our parishioners can now go to the OLOS website and set up online weekly donations, as well as register for a sacrament, and access the daily readings.

In an effort to reach parishioners who are not connected to social media, we are using Flocknote to communicate, inform and connect with them. The parishioners received messages via text. This platform is especially important to quickly communicate important reminders as well as last-minute changes with our parishioners.
